South Pacific Paradise ~ The Cook Islands

We all want that tropical getaway every once in a while. But if you’re looking for a tropical ‘romantic’ getaway or a little bit of private time on a secluded and tranquil island, then I think the Cook Islands (one of South Pacific’s hidden little treasures) is what you’re looking for. Not to say that it’s just for romantic getaways, because it’s not, but it does make for that perfect getaway with that special someone or just a getaway from everything – where all you want to do is relax and escape hustle and bustle of the city life. The beautiful Cook Islands (it really is…beautiful!) has a very laidback lifestyle where the locals are very proud of their culture and will greet you with ‘Kia Orana!’ everywhere you go. Visitors have the option of getting their ‘Cook Islands’ licence and hiring a scooter or car to drive around the island of Rarotonga – but don’t worry, you can’t get lost when there’s only one road that goes right around the whole island (just don’t run over any chickens!).

If you ever get a chance to visit – definitely embrace the local culture and take a tour around the Island where you can experience their local food (using banana leaves as your plates and eating meat that was bbq’d straight out of the ground).  Also while your here, be sure to take a boat ride over to one of the most beautiful and secluded islands/beaches in the world – One Foot Island, where they’ll even stamp your passport! (so don’t forget to bring it with you when you head over to that particular island). If you want to see clear turquoise waters and white sand beaches, this little island is worth the visit (it looks like it was pulled straight off a picture perfect postcard and pasted straight out in front of you – I kid you not).

Another ‘must-visit’ while in the Cook Islands is “Aitutaki”, which is a short plane ride from Rarotonga. For those people who don’t like flying in small planes, brace yourself!, because it can be a bit of a bumpy ride….but you definitely shouldn’t leave without making this little side trip.  Aitutaki really captures the beauty of this tropical paradise – a bungalow right on the beach or over the water? take a pick…it’s a true island getaway! The views and surroundings are just breath-taking so make sure to bring your camera!

Alot of the Cook Islands’ visitor accommodation focuses on couples and getaway holidays (with only a handful that will cater to family holidays)…it’s the perfect place to literally ‘get away from it all!’.  In saying that, if you’re looking for a place to go for your honeymoon, this place crosses most, if not all the boxes! Otherwise, if you’re just wanting to get away to a tropical paradise with lots of privacy and relaxation, this place should definitely be on your to do list.

What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
