If you’ve never been to New York city, I believe it’s one place that should be on your bucket list of places to visit. I fell in love with this city many years ago and it seems like, if you’re looking for something – you’re almost bound to find it here (this place seems to have almost everything!). The history, culture and variety in this city alone seems to be never-ending. Concrete jungle? – most definitely! From the moment you arrive your quick-wit almost automatically kicks in to keep up with how fast-paced it is (I love it).New York is one of those places where you don’t seem to run out of things to do – the amount of things to see and do in this city can be pretty overwhelming and exciting (adrenaline high!)….how could anyone get bored of this place? I’m sure there are people out there, but I have yet to come across someone who’s been here and didn’t like it….and I know alot of people who’s been here.
Times Square has to be my favourite spot in Manhattan – the lights and hustle and bustle of the streets is like a big playground. Whether you’re walking down the main street or the alleyways of this big city – there’s alot to take in, enjoy and experience. With their massive variety of stores to their street vendors, you can’t help but get carried away with the excitement of the ‘big smoke’ (sensory-overload!), the vibe is amazing.
A great way to get around as a tourist is to jump on one of those hop-on hop-off red sightseeing double decker buses that takes you all around Manhattan and across the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. You can also make your way to Battery Park and jump on board a ferry to Liberty Island just to take pictures with the Statue of Liberty or make your way up to the Empire State Building for the scenic view of New York City (just so you can say “you’ve done it!” – something for all those first time or “touristy” visitors to consider).
Another great way to get around Manhattan is on foot! (who’d have thought?). You discover so much more when you walk the streets of New York….Chinatown and Little Italy are also some cool places to stop into when exploring and of course, Central Park! the list goes on and on. Just be prepared to be stopped by street hustlers who are always trying to sell something! (you don’t always see them…at first). For all those music and entertainment fans – Radio City, TV Studios or catch a musical at Broadway! Rockerfeller Centre is also a must. All in all, excitement plus plus from the moment you arrive, till the time you leave and it doesn’t seem like there’s ever enough time to see it all.
